I haven't an idea who David Knowles is or anything about him so without that benefit I offer the follwoing insight to your article, "Shackled by Deeds un My Jail Made of Choices."

I doubt anyone else could have done a better job in capturing for display the ignorance and stigma that exists around mental illness. Good Job Mr. Knowles!

I don't argue Jim was obviously in a fight for his life from the time he first tried meth until, as you would have everyone believe, even Jim himself, that Jim gave up and chose death instead of the fight.

You are an idiot and especially dangerous if you are actually working in the addiction field. Without hesitation Jim was suffering with mental illness and when he was presented for treatment either through his choice or the courts he was unforntunate to find himself face to face with you or someone of your limited view of the world.

I can actually see his days intreatment unfold as the "team" explained the in and outs of addiction without regard for Jim's real problem, mental illness.

Had that been given consideration and had staff consisted of professionals willing to take the time to diagnose Jim instead of "lead by the heart to help people" counseling staff drilling into him about his choices and what his choices got him and forced him into 12 Step meetings and treated him as weak and less than and you made the bed then our lost friend Jim would surely had a chance.

You should reconsider your career choice with an eye in the custodian arts area of our society.
